Life can change in an instant, and when it does, your needs and benefits might shift as well. Republic Services provides the benefits and resources you need to adapt to these changes smoothly, providing support every step of the way.
Qualifying Life Events
Select the life event that applies to you to review the steps, timing and documentation requirements.
- Marriage, civil union or common-law relationship
- Separation or divorce
- Birth or adoption of a child
- Loss of other group coverage
- Employment status change affecting benefits
- Experiencing a death in your family
Important: Submit an eligible life-event change within 31 days of the event. If you are unsure whether your change qualifies, contact the Corporate Benefits Team before the deadline.
Where To Go To Make Changes
Sign in to the Manulife Group Benefits Member Portal using your Manulife ID to submit a qualifying life-event change. Benefit enrolment, life-event changes and beneficiary updates are not completed in Workday.
Other Life Changes
Other life changes are not qualifying life events, but they may affect your benefits. These include:
- Managing an illness or injury
- Returning from a maternity, parental, Short-Term Disability or Long-Term Disability leave
- Leaving Republic Services
- Planning to retire
- Missing the original 31-day submission deadline
