WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Emergency Travel Assistance is included with your Extended Health Care plan, regardless of whether you choose Basic, Core or Plus. It provides support for medical emergencies when you travel outside your province of residence. Emergency medical expenses are reimbursed at 100%, up to a maximum of $5 million per insured person, per lifetime, subject to the terms of the plan.

Before You Leave

  • Review your coverage and bring your benefits card, or access it through the Manulife app.
  • If you have an illness or pre-existing medical condition, confirm that it is considered stable before travelling. A doctor’s note stating that you are fit to travel does not guarantee coverage.
  • If you are unsure whether your condition is stable, call Travel Assistance at 800-265-9977.

If You Have a Medical Emergency

Call Travel Assistance at 800-265-9977 before receiving care, whenever possible. Travel Assistance is available 24/7 and can help locate medical care, coordinate treatment and transportation, arrange payment of eligible expenses, and provide interpretation and other emergency support.

If you cannot place a collect call, keep your receipts and submit eligible expenses for reimbursement when you return.

After You Return

To request reimbursement for emergency medical expenses, complete and submit the required claim form for your province of residence.
