WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Republic Services provides annual flex credits based on the Extended Health and Dental options you choose. Your Health and Dental credits are added together to determine your total flex credit amount for the year. You can allocate all of your flex credits to your Health Care Spending Account (HCSA), or allocate up to $500 to a Wellness Spending Account (WSA) and place the remaining credits in your HCSA. If your coverage begins during the year, your flex credits will be prorated.

How Your Flex Credits Are Determined

  • Choose your Extended Health Care option. This determines your Health credit.
  • Choose your Dental option. This determines your Dental credit.
  • Add the two credits together. This is your total annual flex credit amount.

How You Can Allocate Your Credits

  • Put all of your flex credits in your HCSA; or
  • Allocate up to $500 to your WSA and put the remaining credits in your HCSA.

Keep in mind: The HCSA and WSA reimburse different types of expenses and have different tax and carry-forward rules. Learn more about HCSAs and WSAs before making your allocation.

If you are covered by a collective bargaining agreement, check your union contract, as eligibility and benefits might be different for each program.
