Provincial employment standards legislation provides eligible employees with job-protected leaves for certain life events and circumstances.
Types of Leave
Depending on the province where you work, you may be eligible for job-protected leaves, such as compassionate or family medical leave, caregiver or family responsibility leave, critical illness leave, bereavement leave, domestic or sexual violence leave, or reservist leave. Republic Services provides leaves in accordance with applicable provincial employment standards legislation. Eligibility, length of leave, pay and notice requirements vary by province.

If you are covered by a collective bargaining agreement, check your union contract, as eligibility and benefits might be different for each program.
