What You Need To Know

Congratulations! There is so much to think about when growing your family, and Republic Services provides benefits, programs and resources to make this transition easier on you. Here’s what you need to know about your benefits and where you can find help.

Note that you must make changes within 31 days of your qualifying life event; otherwise, you’ll have to wait until Open Enrollment. To add your new child, visit the Benefits Service Center website and select Change My Benefits. You will need to provide a birth certificate or hospital documentation.

Taking Parental Leave

Being a new parent is a huge life changer, and we offer paid parental leave to give you time to bond with your new baby or adopted/foster child and to learn new routines as a family.

When planning your leave, be sure to review our parental leave policy.

Need Help Adjusting To Life As a Parent?

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) has many resources to help you, whether it’s emotional support, finding childcare resources, or adjusting to your return to work.

Medical, Dental and Vision

You can add your new child to your medical, dental and vision coverage. You will need to provide the birth certificate or the hospital birth announcement if child is less than 6 months old. You have 30 days to submit the documentation once you begin the qualifying life event. The documentation is submitted on your benefits record through the Benefits Service Center website. If you do not submit the documentation, your dependent will not have coverage.

Health Savings Account (HSA)

Contributing to an HSA? Update your beneficiary and consider increasing your HSA contributions to cover your spouse’s eligible health care costs.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)

If you experience a qualifying life event, you may be able to enroll in an FSA or increase your contributions to meet your needs. You can also submit your new spouse’s and eligible family members’ expenses for reimbursement.

Voluntary Life and Accident Insurance

Your options include changing your coverage level and purchasing additional coverage for your new baby or adopted child.

Be sure to review and update your beneficiary information, if desired.
